Change The Name On The Deed Instead Of Making A Will?

My father doesn't have much money to make a will and has property he wants to leave to me and one of my brothers. He is thinking of just transfering the property into our names instead of making a will as a cheaper option. We have other siblings my father isn't leaving anything to. Can they contest us receiving the property if it is already in our names when our father passes?
